California Marijuana Legalization Opens up Money Making Opportunities

With several states expanding marijuana legalization in California there are a number of opportunities for employment and entrepreneur ventures. Adult Use of Marijuana Act allows residents to possess and grow Cannabis, though legal purchase is poised to go into effect in the beginning of 2018.

California Passes Recreational Marijuana Bill Prop 64

In November of 2016, California finally passed Proposition 64, the Adult Use of Marijuana Act (AUMA), legalizes marijuana use for adults 21 and over. The state is currently in the process of activating the regulatory laws and standards before January 1st, 2018. California is then required to offer applications and licenses so businesses can legally sell recreational marijuana.

California has challenges with the current legal status of marijuana on the federal level even though Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ stance on eliminating the Cannabis business regardless that Congress has deprioritized marijuana prosecutions. But despite potential federal issues, the state legislature and Governor Jerry Brown are preparing to open the marijuana trade which is proported to be the largest legal Cannabis market in the world.
